Revelation
Key Facts
- Revelation is written by John, traditionally John the Apostle, author of the fourth gospel.
- Revelation is one of the last books of the New Testament to be written, probably sometime around A.D. 95
- It is written seven churches in seven cities of Asia Minor, a province within the Roman Empire.
- John has been exiled to the island of Patmos because of his ministry for Jesus. While there, he receives a series of visions which he is instructed to write down and deliver to the churches of Asia. The Christians within these churches are struggling to be faithful to Jesus as suspicion and hostility towards them increases. The message of Revelation is intended to strengthen their faith.
