1 John
Key Facts
- 1 John was written by the apostle John, the son of Zebedee, brother of James.
- 1 John is one of the last books of the New Testament to be written, probably sometime between A.D.85-95
- According to the early church, it was written while John was overseeing the church in Ephesus and Asia
- Some members of the church have become convinced a couple false ideas: 1) the human Jesus isn’t really also the Son of God and 2) that they aren’t sinners in need of forgiveness. This is creating confusion and doubts in the churches about what really is the truth and who really has eternal life.
- John writes to help them know that they are in the truth and have eternal life.
